BREAST SURGERIES
Poland syndrome
The poland syndrome It is a rare and congenital alteration that affects the normal development of certain muscles. Aplasia (congenital absence of a tissue or organ) or hypoplasia (incomplete development of an organ or tissue) of the following muscles is characteristic of this syndrome: pectoralis minor, pectoralis major, as well as other muscles of the scapular area. This aplasia or hypoplasia can be accompanied by deformity of the breast or chest wall, with degrees that can range from a slight lack of development to the total absence of the breast (amastia). Sometimes there is also incomplete development of the subcutaneous tissue and lack of hair in the armpit.
People who suffer from it (mostly women) have chest deformity due to the lack of muscles that form the chest, causing, in most cases, that they do not have a chest or that it is very small.
Being a pathology with different degrees of affectation, corrective surgery is very variable, but the most frequent is a plastic surgery that pursues volume and symmetry in the chest. With a breast remodeling plastic surgery or pectoral remodeling appropriate and personalized to each case (pectoral implants or breast prosthesis; reduction of the gland on the contra-lateral side; breast lift; reduction of the areola; lipofilling or filled with autologous fat; etc.), we will achieve a more proportionate and aesthetic breast.
