Treatment of Pseudarthrosis
After studies have been carried out in animal models, preliminary tests on bone tissue and the phase IIa trial with satisfactory results, the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products has been regularly authorizing the research group to continue treating patients with recalcitrant atrophic pseudarthrosis with biografts made up of stem cells included in calcium biomaterial.
Over time, following this procedure, carried out under the administrative formula known as "compassionate use" treatment, more than 50 patients with clinical histories of different complexity and affecting different bones have been treated, having achieved complete resolutions in more than 80 % of cases, one of which, successfully resolved, had a history of 14 interventions.
